Phosphor World Time Sport Watch

The e-ink technology in your Kindle is a perfect fit for digital watches, requiring energy only when the display changes, not when it's motionless. Using e-ink means the possibility of multiple display layouts, and the usual benefit of being sharper and more visible in sunlight than traditional LCDs. Why more watchmakers don't use it is a mystery.

The water-resistant World Time Sport is the latest from Phosphor, who have put out quite a few stylish but inexpensive (USD$150-250) e-ink models now with metal, leather, and polyurethane straps. This, with silicone straps, is the most affordable at just $99*, and the first with a curved touchscreen that responds to swipes.

Shipping December 2011.
*Pre-order pricing is just $79.
